Hey folks,
I am dropping this week’s newsletter a day early given tomorrow’s holiday. Before we jump into this week’s newsletter, I owe you all an apology. I was clearly drowning in work last week because I not only mislabeled last week’s issue the incorrect number, I also included an incorrect link to one of the takes. My apologies, I’ll strive to do better moving forward.
Take of the Week:
This week’s Take of the Week is less take and more article, but an important topic nonetheless. Almost every PR/Comms program comes with the point around said company’s execs becoming thought leaders. I think about this a lot, because if everyone is a leader, then who’s following and reading? Especially in the AI age where scaling this type of program and content is easier than ever before.
Industry voice Allison Carter (seriously, you’re missing out if you’re not following her) posted about Abby Wright’s recent PR Daily article on the topic. She argues that now that anyone can produce an idea, the differentiator is whether or not you can prove them out. In this era of automated, well everything (but not this newsletter!), her article is worth a read: https://www.prdaily.com/when-everyone-is-a-thought-leader/.
Resources of the Week:
For those of us in AI/techland, I am sure you saw that Sharon Goldman announced she left Fortune to go out on her own. TWiPRT friend Meredith Klein has a great take on it.
Emma Cosgrove posted about Business Insider’s new feature where you can follow reporters.
The Rest of the Takes:
PR Misc.
- Johnna with a great take on why the press release is not dead
- Jill’s three camps of thought in the PR/journalist debate is a good read
PR and AI
- Love this PR workflow idea from Haley, it’s a great way to store information
- I get that some PR pros don’t want to use AI to write, but Leah provides some other useful ways AI can help our jobs.
Media Relations
- Hannah dropped some knowledge on how to get a Men’s Health editor to read your pitch.
That’s it for this week’s takes, thanks for reading.
