Before we dive into issue 65 of TWiPRT, I want to thank Dustin Siggins for including me on his panel around navigating the comms economy along with Doyle Albee and Josh Mansbach. For those who missed it, it can be found here.
Take of the Week:
This is less of a take and more of an anecdote, but one that PR pros should certainly read and heed. Lauren points out the pattern of getting ghosted or PR folks trying to use another spokesperson instead of the original one. The optimist in me wants to believe that these are random, but the realist in me says that it’s possibly a bait and switch trend that we should all avoid. After all, now it’s started a new trend for those that pitch Lauren - she’s not going to use all of the quotes she receives because she needs backups.
Resource(s) of the Week:
This isn’t quite a take and isn’t quite a resource, but FYI to the PR/Comms community that some are going on record to outlets like The Guardian and talking about how any sort of automation needs to be positioned as AI.
Annie also dropped a great post to help those looking to get their CEO/spokesperson on broadcast.
The Rest of the Takes:
PR Misc.
- I always love reading Clare’s post, this is a great one with B2B Comms Pro Suzanne Block
- h/t to Dustin Siggins for sending Kristine’s post about landing a story, but the headline isn’t ideal
Media relations
- Matt (from Nebraska Public Media) dropped some friendly reminders for PR folks
- The Chief Brand Officer at Playboy posted about AI and pitches. Please note, I am neither endorsing or condoning this media outlet, but it’s still worthwhile for PR people to know as we use AI in our workflows.
- I am on the record as saying that I love a good Meredith ran, including this one
- I’m also on the record for believing that going from radio silence to a “no” shows progress, and wholeheartedly agree with Linds on her excitement (also congrats!)
- Love this take from Aliza about finding audiences where they are
That’s it for this week’s takes, thanks for reading.
