Hopefully you have all noticed over the past few weeks that there have been some sponsored Takes of the Week. I wanted to take a step back this week and learn from you all about these, so that we can keep the essence of TWiPRT and ensure people are finding this to be the resource to the community that I would like it to be. I put together a quick five question survey (I mean, PR people LOVE surveys, don’t we) just to get a snapshot of how this is going so far.
If you have the spare few minutes, I would really appreciate taking the time to fill this out so that I can learn about this community and sponsored content: https://forms.gle/eqc7brtZ6EE9UBoG8
Please note, I turned off the option to collect email addresses.
Resources of the Week:
We have three Resources of the Week this week - one story opp and two Q&A’s with reporters.
The first is a story tip for those that work in IT/tech. Jordyn Grzelewski (jordan at morningbrew dot com) is looking for sources and pieces of advice for IT pros on the following story, and is hoping to wrap it up by midweek next week. If you have any good sources, please pitch away (probably today!):
The IT help desk is a crucial element in any organization’s IT setup. For years, the mission was a simple one: solve relatively straightforward issues as they arise (people can’t login, a database is down, etc.). Now those manning this desk are facing more complicated issues related to AI—for example, what should they do if an AI product, particularly a consumer-facing AI product such as a chatbot, starts going berserk and hallucinating? What if a "vibe coded" piece of enterprise software stops functioning? Looking for pieces of advice for IT Pros on how to navigate this.
The second is for those that focus on STAT News, Brittany Trang provided insight into how she curates and writes her AI newsletter. It’s a must read for those that focus on this media outlet.
The third is Elisheva’s Q&A with TechCrunch’s Anna Heim on how to best pitch her.
Now onto the Rest of the Takes!
The Rest of the Takes:
PR Misc
- I love Ashley Mayer’s post on two things that matter deeply to her.
-Rachel provided a great checklist for those that work with an agency
Media Relations
- For those that pitch the Fierce Health outlets, their Editor in Chief Ayla provided her take on what exclusive means. It’s excellent to note if/when we pitch them one.
- We’ve all “followed up” on our pitches, Dustin lays out the difference between that and bothering a reporter.
- Jodi wrote a great take on how to avoid “crying wolf” when pitching
That’s it for this week’s takes, thanks for reading.
