Take of the Week:
I try to highlight others’ takes in this newsletter, but every once in a while something occurs that sparks a take of my own. So, this week’s Take of the Week is from…me.

For the first time, I was pitched a piece of news for TWiPRT. At first, I had a “I can’t believe I made it moment and then dove into the pitch itself only to realize how some of my own pitches have missed the mark.

Being on the receiving end, I saw first hand that PR people have to do more than just pitch the news. We have to pitch the “why” it’s important to that newsletter/publication and in some cases the “where” it belongs. The “why” may be self explanatory, but the “where” may not. In the case of my newsletter, I wonder where this PR person felt their news should go in the sections below. Is it for a Take of the Week, a Resource of the Week or just a regular take? Having that level of detail would not only show that they took a few minutes to read TWiPRT, but would also show that the pitch wasn’t copied/pasted.

Please don’t get me wrong, this is a hard job and only getting harder; and the copy/paste saves a ton of time. However, putting in a little bit of context will likely go a long way.

I know I learned a ton from this experience, and hopefully y’all do too.

Resource of the Week:
I am on the record as saying, “We should listen when Allison Braley talks.” She just posted “The anatomy of an announcement” and it’s a must-read.

Chuckle of the Week:
Adrian Bridgwater made me LOL with this post about embargoes

The Rest of the Takes:
Media relations:
- Dan’s post about rescheduling at RSA is not only a great take, but rings true for other major conferences and really just about any other time, too.

Misc.
- Interesting take from Rhiannon about paying media outlets per story instead of a full subscription, just some food for thought
- There's a myriad ways to measure PR, Lindsey dives into 10 of them
- Dustin posted a great take on why an agency’s best salespeople are its AEs.

AI & PR
- This isn’t quite AI and PR, but my goodness am I tired of the contrast/reframe statements and love this one from Jodie.
- Christine with a take on our new stakeholder, the answer engine

That’s it for this week’s takes, thanks for reading.
