Take of the Week:
Those of us in the PR/Comms space often hear the request to speak with or see a list of reporters and outlets we’re friendly with. Jeremy dropped a great take, including this quote from a reporter:

“You can be a lifelong friend I vacation with and if the story is lame, it’s not getting a second look. And you can be someone I don’t know or dislike and if the story is awesome and corroborated, I’m writing on it.”

His takeaways from this include how media relations at the end of the day, is about delivering newsworthiness - and doing so consistently. He advises leaders to trust their PR advisors to listen when something isn’t (or IS) newsworthy. We love coverage, it’s our jobs. We also don’t want to create more noise by pitching a piece of news that isn’t worthy.

- I would love to hear from TWiPRT community about Brandon’s latest on “breaking PR rules.” I would agree that there are times when it’s absolutely ok to deploy this type of strategy, but I would add that I like to operate in full transparency. If I send a pitch to a 2nd reporter at said publication, I usually let them know not just that I sent it to a colleague but why I sent it to them first.
