While there are great takes below, I can’t say that any of them stood out as “takes of the week” for me. I also can’t say that I have one either. So, let’s just end the week by being kind and thoughtful to one another. It’s tough out there, don’t forget to check in with someone that might be looking for work.

Also, Go Pats!

Chuckle of the Week:
Brandon is known for his witty posts, but this one on LinkedIn lingo in real life really cracked me up.

Resource of the Week:
Let’s be clear, there’s no great transition for laughing to what has happened at the Washington Post. I’m not going to even try that, but I do think that Tyler’s offer for a free year of Beehiiv to former WaPo reporters should be spread far and wide.

In that same light, Anastassia posted a GoFundMe for those reporters hit from the layoffs. Please consider donating.

A message from Reportable:
Did you ever get sticker shock after setting up a press release? Only to learn it's because you're being charged by the word? Reportable's Karen Reynolds has worked at some of those major wire service companies and can spill the tea on the legacy of word counts with the big newswires.

If you're interested, schedule a call with her; and this is "not" a sales pitch, it's purely educational.

The Rest of the Takes:
AI and PR
- For those who don’t read Joe Gallo’s newsletter, it’s a must-subscribe. He dove into PR adoption of AI, GEO and brand journalism, etc.

Media
- Joanna wrote about a pitch that’s actually worse than “Dear Reporter Name.” Please don’t do this.
- Veronica wrote about where/when to pitch a reporter vs. an editor.

PR Misc.
- Camilla with a great take on avoiding grandiose language and instead showing with proof and answering the question why.
- Yes, media relationships matter; but Dustin dives into two other relationships in Comms work that are just as important
- 100% agree with Jen that “make it pretty” is a nice to have

That’s it for this week’s takes, thanks for reading.
